Public transportation in the Black Hills is minimal, and many guests arriving by air will rent a car at the airport for the duration of their stay. Direct flights are currently available from Minneapolis/Saint Paul, Denver, Salt Lake City, Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, Phoenix/Mesa, and Las Vegas. By Airĭelta, American, United, and Allegiant serve Rapid City Regional Airport, which is about 53 miles (roughly an hour by car) southeast of Deadwood.
Most GPS units and map apps will find the 1899 Inn with the street address (21 Lincoln Avenue), but there are more detailed driving directions below if you need them. Regardless, once you arrive in the area, you'll almost certainly need a car to effectively tour the Black Hills.
Most people road trip to the Black Hills by car, but you can arrive in western South Dakota by air or by bus.
